Holiday deadline approaching…

I know it is hard to think about holiday gifts as we just head into November, but prints needed for holiday delivery need to be ordered by Friday November 14th, which is just a week and a half away. Holiday cards need to be ordered as soon as possible, to allow time for Mary to design them, email proofs and place orders, while still getting them to you in time to be addressed and mailed. Please email or call with questions. There are two types of cards that can be ordered, traditional “photo paper” cards in 5×7 size, custom designed with photos from your session, and our new upscale press printed 5×7 pearl cards which come in either flat (2 sides to design) or folded (4 sides to design) versions. These cards are lovely and every client who has seen or ordered them has been thrilled! sneak peek…

Isn’t this little 2 year old adorable? He was such fun to photograph, and so absolutely adored by his parents. Beautiful family on a beautiful fall Minnesota day…what could be better? :)

What a difference two years makes…

I last saw this absolutely adorable and charming boy when he was just about 7 months old:

Now he is two, and even more adorable, if that is possible.

This little guy is incredibly smart, energetic and sweet. And, now he is a big brother too!

His little brother is just beautiful, same blue eyes too! :)

braces…

My daughter got braces on Thursday. She is only 8 years old, which is younger than usual for braces, so she didn’t have a lot of friends to compare experiences with, just older kids at school. I had expected it to go pretty well, with a few days of mild soreness like the orthodontist had warned me about. Not our experience.

A few short hours after getting them on, several of them had popped off, and we had to go back again, and pretty much start over. They think it was a bad batch of adhesive, but it was painful for her, and tough for me to watch her hurting. I have found as a parent, I would ten times over rather have pain for myself than for my kids, but of course, we don’t get that choice. My heart goes out to parents of kids who have really tough medical stuff-I don’t know how they do it. I was a wreck over braces.

She has had quite a bit of trouble eating, and is just now saying they don’t hurt all the time. She will have them for 1.5-2 years, then again a few years later- “two stage orthodontics” they call it. Anyway, being me, you know I have to share a couple photos. I think they make her look even older-not what she needed at all! She is growing up too fast as it is, in my opinion. :)

And of course, one of my three favorite kids in the world, all together.

Fall Schedule update

Weekends for the rest of 2008 are nearly booked! I do have one weekend opening left for new clients and two that I am holding for repeat clients. If you need photos for holiday gifts or holiday cards, you should email Mary as soon as possible, especially if you need a weekend session. I do still have several weekday mornings open between now and mid November, but once the weekends are full, the weekdays go fast too. All orders for holiday delivery will need to be placed by Friday November 14th for guaranteed delivery by December 14th, which is the last day for deliveries before Mary Hanson Photography closes for the holidays.

Above is a photo of one of our beautiful Press Printed custom cards that we began offering last year. These lovely cards can be flat or folded 5×7 size and have a lovely pearl finish. They have the look and feel of a high end greeting card and all sides (2 or 4, flat or folded) are custom designed by Mary. Email for pricing information.

Sneak peek and update…

I will be on vacation for the next two weeks, returning voice mail and emails after my return on August 10th. If you want to schedule a session, send me your requested dates and times and I will get back to you when I return. If you place an order while I am gone, I will email confirmation once I am back and then get your order to you approximately two weeks after that. 

Its been a sad week for me, one of my oldest friends unexpectedly lost her Mom (who was way too young at only 61) on Monday morning. Its made me miss my Mom so much more again, and knowing how my friend Heather is feeling, the hugeness of the loss, has just made this such a sad week. The funeral was today and my eyes are still sore from crying. :( I’ll miss you Barb, you were an amazing lady and truly loved. If you still have your Mom, give her a call, or a hug, or a card, and remember to treasure every day, and don’t take a single one for granted. Life is Just. Too. Short.

And, last-but certainly not least, I have a sneak peek for you K! I apologize for not having your entire gallery ready, but its been a crazy week and I hope it will be worth the wait when I return from vacation. Here are a few of your wonderful kids, really enjoyed seeing them again! Thanks so much for your patience, and for all the other clients who are also waiting for galleries, as I emailed you or told you at your session, they will be up as soon as I get back. :)

Summer weekends…

Just a quick post to let clients know that my summer weekends are nearly booked already, and I have many weekends in Sept/October already booked as well. If our late start to summer has caused you to put off booking your summer weekend session, now is the time to email Mary by clicking here   to check availability! Welcome to my new (& much improved!) blog!

I am in LOVE with my new blog, after much much much time spent tweaking and installing it after purchasing the theme (thanks Jared!) I am finally happy with how it looks. It will show my images in a lovely large format now, such as a sample here:

{oh my! over a month!} & Special Memorial Day Offer!

Oh. My. It has been over a month since I posted on this blog.
I’m truly embarrassed! I know, I know, everyone says they are busy, and me too, but this spring has been very busy in all areas of my life; photography work; including families, kids, babies, politicians and work for headshots, and also very busy volunteering at school for my kids, local politics, I’m a delegate to the state DFL convention in June and I am very excited, and projects around the house etc.

On another note, just launched another new website of mine not too long ago:
Twin Cities Headshots for models, actors, authors, politicos, comedians, you name it, anyone who needs a headshot. :) Still have a little work to be done on the site, but its mostly done. Pass the word around!
